The stores are full, and merchants are negotiating little business. The sale of oats in Dunedin is not regarded as the forerunner of extensive trade opening up with the Commonwealth, particularly at present quotations. The potato market is stagnant, merchants holding stocks, for which shipping is not available. Quotations are .£3 10s. to .£3 15s. at country stations. It' is understood that the recent shipment of onions to Sydney realised disappointing values, freight and duty eating up tho bulk of tho price realised. •
