COMMENT BY NEW ZEALAND UNION ' NOETH V. SOUTH ISLAND MATCH

A meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Kugby Union was held last night. Mr. G ijlado presided, and there wero also present: Mcßsrß. A. 0. Kitto, G. A. Howo, T. H. Jones, J. M. l'iki,, H Paton, S. 8. Bean, and T. H. Bailey.

The matter of the recent penalties inflicted on players by the Wellington Union for had language and' misconduct van brought uj. Mr. Jones moved that tho cases bo referred back to the union for adequate punishment. Ho stated that these offences wero becoming too frequent and that if tho committee did not take drastic action there would be mora farcical decisions on tho part of the Wellingtou Union. Ho thought that some of tho rcceut matches in Wellington had been a standing dißgrac». Mr. Slade mentioned the matter of a team having liquor on tho field.

Mr. Bailey said that that particular caso was being reviewed by a' special committee of tho Wellington Union. Mr. Howe Bald ho would not go to far as to reopen the cases, but ht would advise the union that tho committee considered . the punishment meted out to be inadequate.

Mr. Paton said ho was strongly of thn opinion that the union should protect it« servants.
