HOME SERVICE LEAGUE
A well-attended meeting of members of the Wellington Home Service lenguo was hold Inst evening. Mr. J. E. Nicholson was voted to the chair. The object of the meeting, as explained by the clmirman, was to get signatures to a petition to be presented to Parliament asking for gratuities and other benefits now given to returned soldiers, including n war medal, to men who rendered homo service as members of the military forces during the war. It Ms the aim of the league, he said, that SOOfl signatures be obtained for the petition throughout New Zealand. The chairman explained that four members of the Wellington' committee were also members o£ tho central executive, and it was their wish thiat they be relieved of duty on the Wellington committee. He urged that it wouh} be better for the league to have representatives On their committee who were not concerned with the business of the central body. The following were eleoted:—Secretary, Mr. ,H. E. Elliott (seoretary also of New. Zealnnd Executive, ro-flooted); oommittoe, Sergt. T. C. L. Brown, Messrs. H. Eoster, and A. Bloch.
