COMPROMISE SUGGESTED (By Telegraph-Press Association-Copyright Melbourne, Juno 17. The strike position is moro hopeful. The Disputes Committee of 'the City Council and the Trades Hall have compromised by splitting the difference between the employees' demands and the employers' offer. A in ass meeting of men endorsed the decision, and are now awaiting the approval of tho counoil, , This promises to mnke available elec< tricity for lighting and power purposes, besides paying tho way for a general readjustment.—Press Assn.
