Batten, of Wellington, and after the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Batten left for Auckland on their honeymoon.

The wedding took place at tho residence of the bride's parents at .Upper Plain, Mastertoii, on Wednesday, of Miss Burton Bannister to Mr.' J. Nabbs, ofAuckland. Miss Lelina Bannister was bridesmaid, and Mr. D. Bannister tot man. The Rev. G. T. Brown, M.A., of Knos Ckirch, performed the ceremony.

Many .old pupils of the Mount' Cook and South Wellington Schools, as well as a large circle of friends, will regret to learn, of the. death of Mrs. Langford (lire Craig), which occurred last week at' Christchuroh. ' Prior .to her marriage, Mrs. Langford was for many years an active member of the teaching profession in Wellington, having for thirty-four years rendered valuable services under the Wellington' Education Board. She entered the- service of -.tlse board as a piipil tejicher in 1877, serving in each of the Mount Cook Schools. On completion of. her. apprenticeship she proceeded to the Training College, and in 1882 was appointed assistant at the Mount Cook Boys' Scb'ool, serving afterwards in the Girls' and the Infants' Schools. In 1888 she was appointed infant mistress in the South Wellington School, and, on the retirement of the late Mrs. Francis in 1907, she was appointed headmistress of ■to Moiint Cook Infants' School, from which she resigned' on her marriage in 1911 to Mr. 11, Langford, of the firm of Langford and Rliind, of Christchurch. The funeral took place at Wellington on Tuesday from the residence of., the deceased's sister, Mrs. E.' Callain, Drummond Street. The funeral service at tho house and the burial service at the Ka< rori Cemetery were conducted by Messrs. Ira Paternoster and T, J. Bull, of tho Church, of Christ. The chief mourners were the deceased's husband, a nephew, Mr. ■ Howard Callam, and niece, Mrs Baird, and among'others present'was Mr, lU' A. ' Wright, M.P., representing the Wellington Education Board. Wedding at Carterton. The two" bridesmaids were Miss "Marjory M'Naught (sister of the bridegroom) and Miss'lsa Grant,'the formor wearing shell pink de chine, with panels of lace and ' black panne hat, with touches of pink. Iter bouquet was of white and pink flowers; Miss Isa Grant woro a maize crepe de chine dress, with panels of lace, V.ack panne hat, with touches of maize 'colour. Her bouquet was of flowers to match. Mr. J. M'Naught was best man, and Mr. H. M'Naught groomsman. A meeting of thio Citizens' Day Nurs< eries' Committee was held in the Mayor' css's room of the Town Hall yesterday afternoon. During the earlier part of the meeting ■ the Mayoress (Mrs. J. P. Luke) was attending the oivic reception to General Booth, and in Ker absence the chiair was- taken by Mrs. Leicester. The Entertainment Committee reported upon their activities, which include tho organising of several entertainments' of a •varied nature, all for tho purpose of raising funds for the nurseries.
