AN ACCOMMODATION LICENSE
By Telegraph—Press Association. Tauranga, June 10. At the annual meeting of the Tauranga Licensing Committee to-day an application was made and granted for renewal of tho accommodation license at Maketu. Application was also made for an accommodation licenso at Minamata, where no license now exists.' Mr. H. A. Sharp, representing the applicant (A. Montgomery) applied to have tho application adjourned till July 8. The intention, he said, was not to pay the fee for the Maketu license, thus allowing it to lapse. A license then being available, application would be made to grant it at Mntamata. Tho application was opposed by the police, Mr. Black (boardinghousekeeper at tho Matamata Glaxo factory), and several other petitioners. Mr. Richmond, who appeared for Black, described the application for adjournment ns a piece of legal trickery, and strongly opposed granting it. After hearing legal argument tho committee decided to grant an adjournment in ,order that the full committee should deal with the matter, one member being absent to-dny.
