The Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister of Public Works, is due in Wellington from the north on Sunday morning. Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., has been appointed chairman of all appeal boards set up during the year 1920 in connection witli the grading of teachers. Captain Sherwood King, N.Z.E.F., whose health ha 3 noifc been satisfactory for some time past, intends to leave for England by itho Argyllshire in July. Captain Rainey, marine superintendent of tho 0. and D. Lino, left England or I tho ex-German (now Cunard) liner Imperator for New York, to join tho C.D. steamer Port Curtis, which is coming to New Zealand via Panama. lie is expected to be in New Zealand at tho end' of July. Mr. C. M. Bowden has been appointed acting-consul for Sweden in Wellington. Mr. A. V. Mountford has been appointed Inspector of Factories at Wellington. The marked esteem in which tiio lato Mr. Peter Still, head of the firm of Messrs. W. Littlejohn and Son, was held showed itself yesterday afternoon by the largo attendance at the funeral. After a brief 6ervice at the residence of tho deceased, conducted by the Key. Dr. J. K. Elliott, tho cortege proceeded to the Karori Cemetery, the service at tho graveside being conducted by fir. Elliott, assisted by the Rev. W. .T. Burridge. The lato Mr. Still's fellowilireotors of the Wellington Bowling Club, and the employees of Messrs. Littleiohn and Son acted as pall-bearers. Messrs. P. Hazeldea'.i (Pnlmerston North), Hugh Jeffries, J. Orchiston, and Henry Littlejohn were tho chief mourners. Maior C. H. Nutsford, who saw service at Gallipoli, has been appointed superintendent of the Veterans Home aft Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. T. Scholefield (Potone), tho Rev. J. W. Boss (for some time resident at Botortia), and' Dean Tubman (Greymonth), are to leave for America T>v the Marama next week en route for England. Mr. A. B. Jordan, who has arrived in Dunedin to take up his duties as district inspector in tno Public Trust Department, was presented by the staff of Hie Christchurch branch of tho Pv.blio Trust Office with a 'diver cako basket as a token of cstoari. Mr. 'J'iiidall, DePublic Trustee, who mado tho presentation, sjiolzo in Mph praise of tho departing officer's ability and tact, regretted nis ronovju, but congratulated Mr. Jordan on his well-earned promotion. At a mooting of tho Otago Institute,tho Hon. G. M. Thomson was electedas its representative at tho Pan Scientific Congress to bo held in Honolulu in August. Mr. L. G. Jack, recently ft teacher under the Otago Education Board, and Mr. J. I). Boybutt, lato of Nelson Collego, havo been appointod resident assistant masters at St. Andrew's College, Obristchuroh.
