DAY'S BAY AFFAIRS

Tho annual meeting of the Days Bay Ratepayers' Association was held on Saturday evening. Mr. B. Royle presided in the absenco of Mr. A. W. Blair, through > illness. Mr. J. C. Redmond,, the late secretary, was thanked for his many efforts on behalf of tho Bay. Mr. Gordon Baunderß was unanimously elected as secretary und treasurer. The Hutt County Council is to be asked to eroct the tone promised larnps. to remedy the Vitoitoi Street channel and zigzag, to keep its land free of gorse, and . . to consider a proposal for concreting too existing water channels in the Bay. The Eastbourne Ferry Board is to be asked to provide more adequate bus accommodation at tho present juncture. The acting-secretary, Mr. J. B. Finlay, . briefly explained Mr. Blair's views as to the necessity of providing the legal machinery empowering Day's Bay to coino .into the city should future events warrant such action. A deputation from the association is to wait upon tho Mayor of Wellington to ask him to move to obtain an amendment of the Municipal Corporations Act enabling non-contiguous districts to join up with any borough or city.

Mr. A, W. Press was elected chairman, and Mr. J. B. Finlay vice-chairman. Reference was made to the fact that the police station at..Rona Bay is not connected with the telephone station.
