President Wilson has forwarded Notes tn tbe chief Allied Powers, criticising tlio Supreme Council's method of dealing with the Jugo-Slavs, and adding: "Tho United States cannot continue to interest herself in European affairs if .the Allies seek to settle tho Adriatic question without consulting the United States."— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. New York, February IG. Tho Now York "Times" Washington correspondent states that there is considerable comment on tho report from Paris that President Wilson has intimated to the Allies that if the United States is not consulted in the settlement of the Adriatic nuestion the United States will find it 1 imnossible to concern herself in European affairs. The question raised is whether this is an implied threat that President Wilson may refuse to deposit the United States' ratification of the Treaty, even should tho Senate ratify the unci, if tho Adriatic question is settled without. President Wilson's consent. It is also pointed out that it may only mean that the President may refuse to participate only in the pending European settlement of such questions as the Turkish and Hungarian treaties.
Official Washington meanwhile is easerlv awaiting President Wilson's own interpretation of his intimations to the Allies.—Aus.-r>\Z. Cable Assu. PEACE TERMS FOR TURKEY SULTAN MAT STAY IN HIS CAPITAL.
