CONDITIONS AT PLIMMERTON
UNEAVOUR ABLE SANITARY REPORT. ._,. According to the report of ihe. JTutt county inspector, read at yesterday's meeting of the Il.utt County Council, the sanitary condition of Plimmertoa is lot all that could Tw desired. The engineer said lie had found that, in one instance,, evidently with a v iew ot evading the sanitary by-laws to a certain extent, one convenience was being used for two dwellings. The discharge from a septic tank, (lowing into the water channel of the road, was at tinvis very foul. Entrance to one property was kept locked, and the owner refused to pay the sanitary fee, so that un to the present no sanitary service had wen rendered. A pipe from a sink emptied on to the i-urfnce nt the western side ol a dwelling, and the discharge evidently flowed under tho house. Jn another instance a wash-house was being used a", a dwelling during the summer months. On the beach a.very conspicuous birlding had attached to it a very unsightly temporary addition, made of old sacks, which was used as a dressingroom and convenience. This, 'he considered, strondy emphasised the need for more up-to-date conveniences for women during the summer months. Owing to l.lio lack of accommodation, many of ihe inhabitants had kills erected in liieir yards to meet Ihe requirements of v'eilor.l to the seaside. In one ca-e us many ,v? four tents had been eroded. In most cases the visitors were well catered f:u\ good tents being provided, and the < ecupants seemed quite satisfied with their lot. It was decided that the . in.-;:r?tor should take action to remedy the »?vi!? mentioned.
