On the day in Question a bullet penetrated tlic.iwind-screen of a motor-Mr and passed between two children who wero seated in the car. Tho defence set up wa9 that there was no proof that the boys even fired their rifles. The hearing occupied a considerable time, nnd His Worship held that there was not sufficient evidence to enter a conviction. The Magistrate warned tho defendants to he very careful in future how they used their rilles. A fine of i£l was inflicted on Alfred Croft, who was convicted of committing a breach of his prohibition order. Ifaac Misraoki, for whom Jlr. P. W. Jackson appeared, was charged with having, as a second-hand dealer, purchased goods from a boy under the ago of 10. Chief Detective Ward said that tho goods had been stolen. Defendant admitted tho purchase, but eaid that he was under tho belief that the goods belonged to a woman from whom he had, through the boy, previously bought goods. Defendant was convicted and ordered to pay 9s. costs. | f For driving a motor-car along Thorndon CJuny in a, manner dangerous to tho public, Charles Douglas Pulsford was fined i 3, with 15s. costs.
