SCENES AT KINGSTOWN R,AIDS IN DUBLIN (By Telegraph-Press Association-Copyright Dublin, December 11. Extensive raids were carried out on nroininent Sinn Feiners' houses to-day in manv parts of the country. Several members of Parliament were detained, their residences searched, and documents removed. A number of Sinn Fein prisoners were ulaced on board an armed steamer, which has departed for England. The disQoveries bv the military aro unknown.— ''The Times." (Rec. December 14, 5-5 p.m.) London, December 13. An armed vessel arrived at Kingstown and embarked a number of Sinn Fein prisoners. Strong military precautions were taken. Troops in full marching order guarded the dock. The prisoners nn'iTcd in motor-lorries guarded by tanks and armoured motor-cars. The vessel ft Kin afterwards departed, it is understood, for England. The prisonersVame from other parts of Ireland than Dublin, where a round-up occurred later.—Aus.N.Z Cable Assn. A FUTILE RAID. (Rec. December 14, 5-5 p.m.) London, December 13. The Dublin police raided the houses of all the leading Sinn Feiners, including Count Plunkett, Mr. Arthur • Griffiths, Mr. Tom Kelly, and Mrs. .Thomas Clarke, whoee husband was executed in 1910, but tho Sinn Feiners were not at home. They had evidently had a hint to expect the police, so what arrests ivere made were, unimportant.—Aus.-N.Z ('able Assn. THE MANSION HOUSE RAID. (Rec. December 14, 5.5 p.m.) London, December 12. A Dublin message states that a hundred policemen, and five hundred soldiers wearing steel helmets, took part in the raid on the Mansion House. The soldiers arrived in lorries. They had then bayonets'fixed, and even carried Lewis guns. Tho soldiers formed a cordon round the Mansion House while the police searched the rooms.—"The Times." AMERICAN MEDDLERS. Washington, December 12. Mr. Justice Cohalan and Jfr. Cochran, as a deputation from the Irish Freedom Society, appeared beforo the Foreign Attains Committee of tho Hou6e of Representatives in favour of a Bill authorising the appointment of diplomatic and consular representatives in the Irish Republic. They argued that such recognition was due to tho Irish people in view of the fact that they had organised their own Government.—Aus-N.Z. Cable Assn. THE CASE OF FATHER O'DONNELL MISTAKEN IDENTITY. London, December 10. Father O'Donnell has issued a statement declaring that his arrest arose through the Secret Service mistaking him for a dangerous emissary who was oxpected' from America, dressed as a priest or as an overseas officer. He russerts that he was shadowed throughout his visit to Ireland.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. HOME RULE BILL POSTPONED DIFFERENCES IN THE CABINET. (Rcc. Decembor 14, 5.5 p.m.) London, December 13. The introduction of the Home Rule Bill has been postponed.' The "Morning , i l'ost" says that there wns'a sharp division of opinion in the Cabinet upon tho scheme for Parliaments with a Senate containing an equal number of repre-sentatives-for each as a connecting link. (Rec. Decembor 14, 11.5 p.m.) London, December 13. The "Dailv News" states that, tho Roman Catholic Hierarchy has received the substance of tho Homo Rule Bill, and has overwhelmingly condemned its partition proposals Nationalists and Unionists of South-West Ireland al§o oppose, and all parties scout, tho idea of an Irish Council.—United Service.
