A treinendotis amount of useless rubbish is no doubt bought and given away every Christmas gift season, but a good' book—a good edition of u really good author—is always welcome in iiii educated household, and no better ' Christmas gift could he chosen. But discrimination, I warn you, is necessary. Don't givo unreadable books, simply because they aro prettily "got up." Try and think of the literary tastes of tlio recipient, and give liim or her—it is, as if. properly should be, with most young people, "her"—a book which can not only bo road once but one which to which lie (or she) can always return with renewed pleasure.
