DECISION OF THE REWARDS COMMISSION. London, November 27. A Eoynl Comm'ssion on awards to inventors" has reported regarding various chims in iwpect to the tanks. Tho report records that it was primarily due to the receptivity, courage, and driving force of Mr. Winston Churchill that the general idea was put into practice. The report attributes the principal credit in the designing and production of the tank to Sir William Tritton and Major Wilpon, to whom £13,000 ; s jointly awarded. Major-General K B. Swinton is; awarded dSIOOO. The report recognises the still greater value of his work in advocating the use of .the tanks, for which ft pecuniary reward in inappropriate. Another was awm-M iiKt-V and two others ,£SOO each. Some claimants were disqualitinl because the r invests?* tions were within the scope of their duties.—Router. (Rec. The Tank Commission says that it was Demoles misfortune, not his fault, that' iiis invention was in advance of _ the times, and consequently unappreciated nnd put aside because occasion for its use had not then arisen. The Commission regrets exceedingly that it is unable to recommend an award to Deruole. —Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn. TDeinole was an Australian,-who, long before the war, submitted an idea for , the adaptation of the motor caterpillar to the battlefield. His suggestion was pigeon-holed and forgotten.]
