The Petone Borough Council last nisht received a request from the Civil Engineers' Society that arrangements be made for tho borough engineer (Mr. Cowie) to attend a conference to ie held nt Dunedin next year. Mr. Cowic hud attended Inst year, the time he devoted to the conference being part of his holiday. It was decided to grant tho request under similar conditions, tho engineer linviiiß stilted Hint if he did so it would bo durinjr his holiday period.
