AN OBJECTIONABLE POSTER
RETURNED SOLDIERS INDIGNANT. By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent. . Masterton, November 2S. At tho meeting cf tho Wairarapa Returned Soldiers' Association to-night, Mr; A. E. Prentice ..brought up the matter of. a poster in the interests of tho liquor trade, or. which the association s badge was depicted. On his own initiahve_Mr. Prentice,, who is* secretary of the .Wairarapa. Association, wrote.to the general secretary drawing Irs attention to the illegality of tho poster, and pointing out that it was likely, to do the association harm, tho association having adopted ah entirely neutral attitude on that question. Mr. Douglas Seymour replied that ho had asked for a copy of tho poster, on tho receipt' of; which: legal proceeding's would probably be taken. The .secretary's action was approved, 'ami tho. following motion was earned unanimously i—"That in common with the declared '-pslicy of tho N.Z.R.S.A. this association declares its neutrality in regard to tho licensing question, and that it resents the action of the liquor parties in misrepresenting the N.Z.R.S.A. by illegally and without authority using tho badge of the association to advertise tho liquor cause, thereby endeavouring to influence phblic opinion into ljelioving that tho R.S',A. is allied to. the cause of the trade." i
The po?tei' .in question depictcd a returned soldier, in civilian clothes refusing the overtures of the prohibitionist advocates.' Cireat, indignation, was expressed at the liberty thus taken by,the liquor party.
