DON'T FORGET THE VERANDAH

Sir,—.As the housing question is the greatest problem of .the day. may I be ' permitted to make a suggestion? -Build the house of concrete and roof it with asbestos by all means—but don't forget the verandah. It is worth half the house —every time. The mother can put her baby in its cut or pram., and go on with her work, knowing it is breathing the fresh air. It is a clean ajul healthy playground for the little ones, and in eates of sickness or epidemic a part of it screened off is equal to or better than a hospital, and the hundred, and one things that'could be mentioned! And I repeat it—the verandah is worth half the house —even' time—l am, etc., THOS. LASKEY. Ml Tinakori Road. Novem'ber 7, 1919.
