ANOTHER CITY "LUNG"
ONSLOW TO BENEFIT. The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) is looking ahead. He believes Wellington, indeed the whole ol New Zealand, is on the eve of a big boom, and that the Empire City is going to grow and expand very rapidly. This had led him to believe that now is the time to rd in many respects. Yesterday he informed a Dominion representative that a block of twelve aces of land al Ngaio is to be taken under the provisions of the Public Works Act for Ihe purposes of a recreation ground, which will in the fulnreservo ihe needs of the big nopulntion that is going to build on the hills of Kniwarrn, Wadestown, Ngaio. and Khandallah. The block is mrt of the Nairn.estate, and is undulating in contour, but with comparatively lFllo work could lie adapted into a big playing area in two sections, one above the ether (as at WakofWd Park). Definite decision to take this land has been arrived at, and the formal proclamation of intention to do so will follow in duo course.
