RETURNING TROOPS
PAPAROA'S DRAFT ARRIVES,
Tho transport Paparoa. with returning troops from the United Kingdom, arrived in the stream at S o'clock yesterday morning, and. being a "dean" ship, berthed nt tho King's- Wliarf at; 10 a.m. The number on board was 2SO, including a good many'wives and clvildicn.
The arrivals were met bv tho Mayor and Mayoress, Brigadier-General G. H. Richardson, and members of the Dofonco stud'. They were accorded a very warm welcome home, and as they left the ship worn made the recipients of the. usual comfort.-*.
Tho disembarkation was carried out with quick dispatch, and the Voluntary Motor Corps performed very efficient sorvico in transporting the Wellington tiooi« to their homes. .
Most of the Iroops proceeded to their destinations by train and steamer yesterday. Details for Palmerston North, to Marlon, Wanganui, and New Plymouth inclusive, will leave by train from Thorndon Station at 8.20 a-m. to-day, and thoso for, stations beyond Palmerston North, to Napier, including (iisbome. will leave by train from Tliorndou this morning at 9.10 o'clock.
