SIR JAMES ALLEN INTERVIEWED.

When questioned by a reporter to-night regarding the allegations by the Returned Soldiers' Association that unfit men were being prematurely discharged, Sir •lames Allen said that the matter had eome under his notice and lie had been assured by tho Medical Department that tho action of the board could lie fully justified. That action had been taken in the interests of the men themselves, as under the Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Act a soldier was precluded from tho benefits of the Act until ho had received his discharge. He was not in a position to go into tho matter, as no specific cases had yet been brought under his notice.
