EXTRA EXHIBITS, ETC.

(Published by Arrangement.) THE NEW ZEALAND ItEFRTGF.IUTING COMPANY, LIMITED. Among the exhibits on the Show Grounds was that of the New Zealand' Refrigerating Co., Ltd., which, as usual, attracted attention. This company, which is represented in the North Island by the Imlay Works, situated at Wamranni, made an effective display of tinned meats, neatsfoot oil, and their well known "Eclipse" fertilisers. The. tinned meat exhibit under (he wellknown C.M.C. brand formed ft conspicuous feature, and tho cleanliness antf allround attractiveness of the goods were evidence of the gvwit care used in the manufacturing of this famous brand of preserved meat-.. The tinned tongues, which are a particular speciality, find their wav to England, Australia, South Africa, and South America, besides being on the market throughout New Zealand.

Neatsfoot oil, which is a product of tho company, was also shown, and this comTKires more than favourably with any other cm the market, una commands n steady sale

Tho featnro of Ihe exhibit, however, is the. various samples of "Eclipse" fertiliser, which are manufactured at lmlny, end which find their way into practically every district in the North Island. All thn various mixings exhibited for turnip, rape, drain, grass, potato, mangel, and top dressing, together with correspondin? mixings containing carbonate if lime, which are known as "Kclipsc" basic mixings, arc shown. These fertilisers are of high analysis, and so manufactured as (0 run freolv through Iho drill. I'l'licy are Bent out in bags of twenty to ihe ion, which make for easy and expeditious hanaling. "Eclipse" fertilisers have been on the market in the South Island for many years, but have only been available in tho North Island for the lust throe years since the Tinlay Works started, and tho unprecedented demand for "Eclipse" ferlili-er.-. in the North Island is evidence of the universal sati-dacticn they give to fanners, both as regards the high standard of quality, and the efficient, mechanical method of ni:.:ing, which rcniiers them so easily worked through the drill. Quite a feature in these sales has keen the ever-growing demand for top-dre-siug fertilisers, which have been supplied '" '"K <I" , uiliti' > -: to prattionllv every district in the North Island up' as far as Auckland. _ The manufacture of these "Eclipse" fertilisers is based on an experience of the requirements of tho soil collected during years of experiment and practical experience. The company employs in its analytical department highly-qualified chemists,

whose services arc always available to farmers to analyse samples of soil, ami this work is done free of charge, full particulars of which can be obtained from the comi'fliiy in AVnnganui on application.

Tho New Zealand Refrigerating 1 Company, Limited, owns five works in tho South Island, viz., nt Islington (Christchurch), Duuedin, Oainaru, Tiniuru, and Picton. and tho latest addition is the recently-built works at Imlay (Wanganui). These works are situated on tho Wringanui Hirer, are built as the fruit, of experience of many years of the meat freezing industry, and tho whole business of meat freezing and its attendant Bubsioinrv industries of wool scouring, pelt curing, preserving, tallow and oleo milking, and fertiliser mixing, are carried out under the most modern and improved conditions. No effort has been spared to make these works the most efficient and un-to-dato in New Zealand, and tho enterprise of the company has been well iiwtified in the quantity of stock treated for the last three seasons, which, with the subsidiary industries abovementioncd. mean much to tho farmers, besides giving remunerative employment to hundreds of employees, and the indirect em r ployment of many others-

■fJiLETRAC TANK TYPE TK ACTOR. Probably thero lias never been any period in tho world's history when increased production was more needed, and practically the best brains of the universe are engaged in this great problem. In the meantime tho machinery experts are doing much, in the direction of placing greater facilities in the hands of agriculturists, so that greater expedition mav be shown in farm operations. Ploughing is. of course, the basis of agricultural work, on n big scale, and it is here that the Clotrac tank typo tractor, exhibited nt the Palmcrston Show by Dexter and Crozier, Ltd.. motor-car importers and engineers, of Auckland. This tractor has just had its merit well demonstrated at the big Canterbury Show, when it pulled off the big prize, namely, a Kold medal, ana' a special for the greatest improvement in farming machinery during the past two years. This in itself is sufficient to give the Cietrac tractor a hi* pull over its rivnk Some of the main characteristics of tho Clotrac tractor are as follow:—(1) It means greater production with less labour; (2) it takes the place of both man and beast; (.1) it doesu't eat. whon it isn't working; Ml it works faster and better than most; (SI it means more crops at lower cost; (lil it is so easy to work that a lady can drive and operate it;'and, what is perhaps best of all, it makes money and saves money for its owner. The Cletrao is constructed on the tank principle, and it not only' ploughs, htit subsequently goes over tho ground with tho disc and harrow, and then goes over it with the seeder. In connection with the latter, the Cletrao rides on top of tho seed bed: it does not sink into it, and it does not pack the soil. These are. very special features which must commend it to the agriculturist. Already in tho lung Country a number of returned soldiera have sot the Cletrao to work, and are doing gree.t things with it. Tho Cletrao has a verv wine range of usefulness, and it is perhaps unnecessary to say that this tank-typo Cletrac tractor excited great interest at Manawatu's big show. Farmers of the district will be able to get full particulars of this great machine from the Mr.nawatu district agents, Derry Ltd., Fcildinjr.
