In the first game -Miss Wright (Timaru) defeated Mrs. Dargaville (Auckland). Hoth players gave a good exhibition of golf in tuis match, notwithstanding the wet. Alias Wright, who has played consistently good golf throughout the meeting, continued her pertoruiauco to-day, and played a very steady game. Miss Wright had rather a long carry for the third, and played short, -Mrs. Dargaville was snort ot the green with her fourth. They halved the hole in six, Miss Wright being two up at the turn. At the tenth Miss Wright played her ball nicely on the green. Mrs. Dargaville struck bunker on the left, and her ball rolled down among the rushes. It was quite playable, nowever, and she played her second on the green. Her opponent holed out in four, Mrs. Dargaville taking live. Miss 'Wright, three up. Miss Payton took three to reach tho green and three more to hole out, while the Mira-o mar player went down in five, making her two up. Both were on the green in three at the fourth, and they halved tho hole in five. At the fifth, Miss Gam. brill out-drove her opponent considerably, and was on the green in three. Her fourth overran the hole, Miss Paytous fourth stopped within a few feet of tho pin and they halved a woll-played five. Going to the sixth, both drove well, and . their third shots were closo to tho pin. Miss Gambrill missed her putt, however, while tho Auckland player was mora successful and holed in four, to her opponent's five. Miss Gambrill one up. Both wore on the green at the seventh, 'but Miss' Gambrill's shot was rather strong. She made no mistake, however, and holed out in three. Her opponent was also equal to the occasion in a well-played three, halving the hole. The Miramar player drove a magnificent ball at the eighth and reached the green. Her second was rather strong, but she holed a long putt for three to her opponent's four, making her two up. Going to the ninth Miss Gambrill again out-drove her opponent, but the latter came to light with a good second. .Miss Gambrill hit her second too low, but tho ball managed to ( ,iear the bunKer. Her next shot went into the rushes and she had to drop, with a penalty. Miss Pavton was on tho green with her fourth, and went out in six, to her opponent's seven, leaving the latter one up at the turn. At the tenth Miss Payroll got into the bunker on the far side of the green with her drive, while Miss Gambrill played her ball within ten feet of the pin. Miss Payton got well out' with her second, but missed a fairly long putt for three. Her opponent rainmoil down her putt and won the hole in a good three, making her two up at. thi eleventh. Miss Gambrill again drove a long ball and plnce'd. her second nicely on the green. Miss Payton was short with Jior second, but placed her third on lli'o green. Miss Gambrill failed in her putting-, and they halved the hole in five. Goiiig to the twelfth, both were on the green in two and they halved in well-played fours, At the thirteenth Miss- Payton was on tho green with her second, 'but failed to hole her mitt and they halved in five.
