HIDES AND CALFSKINS , CONDITIONS OF, EXPOKT. j.'he conditions on- which the consent of the Minister of .Customs may be obtained for the export of hides and calfskins and tho iiriccs ; at which tanners may purchase for local use are published in a; Gazette Extraordinary. Tho conditions of consent to export are:— 1. Tho notices issued by tho Customs Department on March 5, 1919, and on April IG, 1919, relative to permits ior the' export of hides and calfskins are hereby cancelled. S.iThtS consent of the Minister of Customs for the export of hides or calfskins will- be granted only on the presentation to tho Collector of Customs of a permit issued by the Board of Trade, and all applications for permits for export must be made to the Board of Trade, Wellington accordingly. 3. The New Zealand tanners are rccof[nised as having a pre-emptive right to purchase for local use at the prices set out in the schedulo hereto 50 per cent, of each grade and quality of hides produced in New Zealand, aud the wlioie of the. calfskins so produced. 4.'No permit for the export of any hides or. calfskins will be granted unless the applicant satisfies the Board of Trade, in such manner as the board may require, that the export of those hides or calfskins is consistent with the proper and 'effective exercise by the New Zealand tanners of the pre-emptive right aforesaid.

, 5. -No permit will be granted for the export of hides or calfskins' by or on behalf of any New Zealand tanner or by or on behalf of any person who has purchased hides "or calfskins from any such tanner.
