General Pershing was rather astonished, and not altogether pleased, to rcceivo tho other day a five-figure offer from the mannger of a New York music-hall for a series of short lectures oil tho war. Tho General did not reply to the cable, and a fortnight later ho received another message: "Have you entertained my proposal?" Then General Pershing replied. "No," he cabled, "but your proposal has entertained me."
