LAND FOR SOLDIERS
PROTEST AGAINST DELAYS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Whakatane, Juno 1. Much indignation at (lie delay in settling ■ soldiers on the laud was expressod at the AVhakatane County Returned Soldiora' Association reunion, at which about 100 wero present. Mr. M. Douglas complained that, although thfc AVoodlantls Estate at Opotiki was ready no soldiers were being settled there yet. Mr. AV. C. Roberts, president of the AVhakatane Agricultural Association, said the Government appeared to be tied hand >m\ foot by red tape. He advtfcated ': il boards for settling soldiers on'tlic nd. It was resolved:—"That this mating strongly urges upon the Government the necessity of quickly opening up the various lauds iu this county for eottling returned soldiers."
