LOWER HUTT MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Mr. W. G. Riddell. S.M., presided over the monthly sitting of the Lower Hutt s Court yesterday. Two girls, aged respectively 13 and 9 years, were charged with the theft of various articles from an unoccupied house at Normandale. It was stated by the police that tho mother rather • than the girls themselves was to blame, sho having assisted her daughters in tho theft. An adjournment for six months was granted by tho Magistrate, the girls in the meantime to be kept under police suuervision.
Por driving motor-cars on *ho wrong side of the road, Josoph Meo, Norman Hughes, and F. W. Neal wore cach/fiped '205., with costs 78., and for driving a car without lights after dark J. Q. O'Donovan was fined a similar amount.
A. Denniston, E. Haggart, and VV. G. Sanders were each fined 55., and costs 7a. for riding cycles without lights aftor dark. For riding a motor-cycle without a light after dark A. Glading was fined 10s. find costs 7s. For driving a car with dazzling headlights C. W. Brown was fined 10s. with costs 75., and for driving an unlighted vehicle G. Graham was fined 55., with costs 7s. Albert Baker, Thomas' Collins, H. Pilcher, P. Gorrie, and' E. Mawson wero each fined 55., and 7s. costs, for neglecting to send their children to school. For allowing stack to wander, P. N. Cameron, J. K. Croft, and F. Ueyrick woro each fined 10s., with 7s. costs; C. Cunningham, 20s. and 7s. costs; and E. Eawlin6on, F. Twomey, G! W. von Zedlitz. B. Williams, and S. K. Shaw, ss. each and 75.! costs. On further similar charges F. Sleyrick was fined ss. and costs, and S. K. Shaw, costs 76. J. W. Preece, L. Hobbs, and S.' Saunders were each fined 40s. and costs 7s. for having committed breaches of prohibition orders. George 11'Ghie was fined 40s. and 7s. costs for bein" on licensed premises during prohibited hours. Amy Biggin was charged with having stolen leaulights and other articles from an unoccupied houso at JNormandaK.She was fined 405., in default seven days' imprisonment. For failure to attend military parades, L F. W Anson, P. Coffey, E. Glennio, B' Gwilliam and R. JLustv were each fined ss. and costs 75., J. F. Nyhan 10s. and costs' 7s„ and E. Shiel 7s. costs. F. E Winnie was ordered to pay is. Gd. per week towards the support of each of two illegitimate children, ilo was also ordered to pay maternity expenses, JM 4s.
