Ten deaths from influenza occurred during tho week-end.—Press Assn. . STATEMENT BY MR, RUSSELL. By Telegraph—Preßs Aesooiatloft Christchurch, June 2. The Hon.' G. W. Russell received news to-day that during the week ended May 24 125 persons died from influenza in Victoria and 49 in New South. Wales, 'lho returns from Queensland and South Australia are not available. The. eifidepiio in the metropolitan area of Brisbane, judging by the number of cases notified thero, is very heavy, and a number of deaths has been 1 recorded.:
