A remarkable case is that of a miner named Paul Freeman, who, without any reasons being given, was placed aboaru tho steamer Sonoma by the military authorities for doportation to America. Refused admission to America, Freeman was carried from San Francisco and back three times. The Sonoma is now in Sydney. and Freeman lias started a hunger strike, with tho objcct of compelling the authorities to grant him a trial. He has fasted for several days, and is very weak. Strong pressure is being brought on the Federal authorities to deal with the case—Press Assn.
