NORTH ISLAND RAILWAYS
EXTENDED-. SERVICES NEEDED. - By Tclezrapli—Press Association. Napier, May 22. At the Napier ChanAer of Commerce meeting to-day, on the motion of Mr. A. # Kohn, it was decided that in the opinion of the chamber the timo had arrived for a universal half-holiday for tho whole of the Dominion. It was resolved to solicit the eupport of members of Parliament and other chambers on the question.
The Auckland Railway League suggested thnt tho chamber should co-operate in the, direction of securing extended railway services throughout the North Island, with concrete ronds as feeders. The letter suggested that tho time had arrived for the North Island to secure more favourable treatment in the matter of railway rxlen'sion. Tho chairman said tho movement should have the sympathy of the chamber, and (hat the president (if the league should visit N<ipier on his proposed lour for tho piiriMife of enli.<ti!ig sympathy. Tho chairman and Messrs. S. M'Lornon, C. H. Gould, and (.'. Douglas were appointed a committee to arrange. with other ■bodies for the lour mentioned in the.
