The "Berlinske* Tideiido's" correspondent in Berlin, describing tho fighting which resulted in the Government victory, states that Ebert's troops on Wednesday beat off the Spartacusians' attack on ,tho Foreign Office. The battle raged till midnight in South-Western and Central Berlin. Tho Government troops, assisted by aeroplanes, bombed ono of the railway stations, where 65 were killed. They subsequently attacked the Lohrter station, where tho Spartacusians fired on an incoming train. The Government's . situation is improving hourly. The Civic Council has appealed to the citizens to join, the Kepublicau Guard. Tho Spartacusians, after seizing the waterworks, attempted- to capture tho cattle market. The Government anticipated the move and sent a number of machine-guns, and the attempt was frustrated. The Government stormed the "Vorwaerts" building and captured HereLedebour and other leaders. OTHER SPARTACUS DISTURBANCES Amsterdam, January 11. Serious collisions between Sparta- , cusiaus and Ebert's adherents occurred at Dortmund. The extremists occupied the newspaper offices. The People's Counoil in the Republic of Hesse decided to support the Ebert Government. Twenty thousand soldiers, sailors, and civilians from Brunswick, armed with machine-guns, marched in procession to the ducal palace, demonstrating against the Government. The President of the republic addressed the demonstrators, blaming the weakness of - tho Government for the present chaos. There were fresh Spartacus disturbances in Dresden, Essen, and Munich. The German Majority Socialists are conducting a vigorous campaign for the elections of the Coiistituont Assembly on January 19. The home coiistitaencies of In<fcpendeut Socialists are repudiating tlhe extremist loaders and will join 'forces with the Majority Party, whose My-everywhere is "No Bolshevism."
