THE ANGLICAN CATHEDRAL
Sir,—Prom the letters which have appeared in your pa pur. ."and from the general feeling of the public it is evident that to build an Anglican cathedral is not just the right kind of way to express our people's thankfulness to God and perpetuate the memory of the brav-. ery and sacrifice, of our men. It would no doubt satisfy the Anglican portion of the community, and 110 one 6hould have anything to say against the project if help were not wanted from members of. other Churches. But since the Anglican Church is not. tlio ■ State Church, to gather money from all 'and sundry in older to build a cathcdral is quite a mistake. Now, if our Anglican brethren be sincere, let them call a meeting of represent taitrves from all the Chnrchps, and let tliem consider the building of a union church—a city temple. Oil the walls.of such a church wo would all be glad to sea the names of our beloved dead; but what would bo the use of placing them in an Anglican cathcdral, where the great majority of churchgoers would .never sea them? Had we a city temple we could call to it-a great preacher of any denomination; It would be tlio people's church awl a first step towards the union of all Protestant Churches—l'am, etc., ■.< , WAIRARAPA PRESBYTERIAN. • Carterton, January 7.
