AN OVERHEAD BRIDGE

vx IN SAR STREET. The City Council decided last night that consent be granted to the New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Distributing Company, Limited, tn erect an 1 ' overhead bridge over the lower portion of Sar Street, off Hutt ltonri. subject to compliance with the following conditions stipulated .by the City Engineer:—!. That a concrete pier, or support, must be erected clear of the bank, such pier to be at least 12in. in thickness.-and to project 12in. on such side of t'. 1 ' 1 : bridgo beyond the longitudinal beams' or ties of the bridge; returns to be placed at the ends of the pier in concrete, and the space between tho rood and the pier rilled in. 2. The handrail of the bridge shall hi extended to join the fences on each side, and painted white, so as to afford proper protection to pedestrians. 3. The whole work shall be completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer, and tho company shall agree to maintain the bridge in good order. 4. The council reserves the right to tc- > voice this consent should they at any time deem that the publio interests necessitate such revocation.
