PICTURE THEATRES

THE RESTRICTION OF HOURS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, December 19. A deputation representing picture theatre proprietors waited on the Hon. G- W Russell regarding the new law restricting hours. The Minister, m reply, said the laws had been made to cover cases where conditions were bad. The restrictions had been carefully considered, and expert advice showed that the law was fo rthe good of the country. If it was found that it went too far, doubtless it would be modified next session in the direction of allowing the Health Officer in each centre to license theatres and other buildings adapted tor the purposo to be continuous.
