Tho appointment of Princess Mary us Colonel-in-Chief of the Hoyal Scots, (Lothian Regiment) recalls the fact that {his military rank is held by several ladies of the Royal House. The Queen is Colonel-in-Chief of the 18th Hussar*, Queen Alexandra is Colonel-in-Chief of the lflth Hussars and of Alexandra Princeps of Wales's Own (Yorkshire Regiment) ; the Princess Royal is Colonel-in-Chief of the 7th Dragoon' Guards; and Princess Louise (Duchess cf Argyll) m Colonel-in-Chicf of the Argyll and Ayrshire Highlanders.
