THREE ESCAPED GERMANS
FOUND ASLEEP IN BOWING BOAT.
Three German prisoners, who escaped from Oakhall Camp, Bishop's Stortford, England, were recaptured at Merseu, Island, near .Colchester. Early in the morning Mr. Harrp Chaplin, a farmer of Mersea Island, saw three men asleep in a boat, which had grounded on the mud, nearly opposite his farm, buspecting that they were escaped prisoners he did not arouse them, but informed tho military, who awakened and secured the men. It was ascertained that they had walked by road from Bishop's Stortford to a spot near Maldon, where they stole a rowing boat and made their way down the River Blackwater. They ran in the- dark on a mud bank on Mersea flats, and, being tired, fell asleep.
