THE LATE CAPTAIN DREWETTE
_,*_ ■ AN APPRECIATION. "Voyageur" writes regret and much sympathy is telt by the. travelling public at Captain J. M. Drewettos untimely death. All who have ever travelled by tho s.s.- Monowai have appreciated the hospitable comfort of that vessel/ and ' have felt the \\i most confidence'in the skill and care of her commander. Tho late Captain Drowette's iirst and lost thought ever was for tho safety of his passengers and the yeditable conduct of his ship. The devotion to duty which recently made him stick to his post when grievously assailed by influenza unquestionably brought about the fatal illness. The 'Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand, Ltd., loses a loyal and valued officer, and those who go to tho sea in ships for long to wmo will sadly mis? that thorough sailor and very fine fellow, the late Captain John Murray Drewette. That lie was respected and esteemed »by both officers and crew to an unusual extent was obvious to everybody who set foot on the Mono■wai."
