Tho captain and manager of the' Auckland team denied ■ that there hnd been any agreement to -~, piny under modified rules. It was re- \ solved: "That in tho opinion- of the j Auckland Union neither the members ! nor players were guilty of any niiscon- ; duct or notion likely to bring discredit ! to the game. The players simply did ' ] not take advantage ot the permission to i charge, permitted by the rules, such not j being operative in Auckland." The com- ■: mittee recognised that the decision of j tho New Zealand Union must be accepted, and, while not aware of authority to ftst for an inquiry, had conducted the | inquiry as requested. !
