Mr. Luke recognises that prevention is better than cure, and it is not his intention to wait until the epidemic is hsre before taking measures to check its ravages. He asks citizens not to be Bparing m the. use ot disinfectants, and in tho case of people in needy circumstances supplies of an effective'disinfectant will be available at a nominal price at the Town Hall. By working on those lines, Mr. Luke hopes to bring about a state of hygiene which will be highly discouraging to the disease, and which may even prevent its gaining a grip in- this city.
