VENDOR. FINED £5,
The milk inspector (MivF. W. Rawlinson) proceeded against a milk vendor in tho Magistrate's Court; yesterday afternoon, on. two;charges of sellinn- milk containing added water. Mr. F°V Frazer. 5.M., , heard the case. Mr. J. M. Tudhopo,;- of the Crown L,aw'Office, appeared for the-prosecu-Th'e defendant stated that-the milk in question was purchased, from a Karori supplier- on' account of -the sup- ■ ply from-his own cows'ruriuiiig short, and a;s he was pressed forHimo'he did not-test the milk-before'taking it for delivery. .'' ■' .-', '■ Mr. Tudhope. stated that two samples were taken, one from each can on tho defendant's cart; one'was found to contain" 12' per cent, added water, but the oilier was up to the standard. Mr. F. V. Frazor pointed,out to tho defendant the necessity of testing allmilk before it was retailed.. The dofendant was fined £5 and 17s. Od. costswith the object of ■> teaching him a lesson on the need for-being'more careful; "On the second charge he ivas convicted and discharged; v ..'-'-
