Whiro was second and Kura..pai filled the other places, just ahead of barbouitu. the Soldiers' Hostel representative, Ilastio, beat a big Held in the Grandstand Hack Handicap,.the favourite, Koyal Park, being runner-up. Suubright led foi , three furlongs, when Royal Park took oharge, but in the straight Hastie came on and beat him nicely. 80-Peep had tho inside running in the 'Telephone Handicap, and Bhe bosun smartly, but Pennon soon headed hor, and Croesus took third place. The trio had the raco to themselves, 80-Peep winning by half a length. ■ Tho heavy rain which fell prevented the spectators from getting a good view of the two-year-olds. The winner, Lady Ball, is a good looking filly and fairly well forward. Bitholia is also a good sort, but Affectation will be a lot better for the race. Lady Ball drew the inside, and Affectation, who delayed the otart, the outer. The pair jumped out well and led till a, lev; utricles oil the post, when Bilholia joined in, and in a good finish the trio crossed the line together. Lady Ball, on the inside, got the verdict by a head from Bitholia, with Affectation the same distance away. Humiliation on the big handicap was evenly divided between Volo, Devotion, and ilangamahoe. Hyginas went- ofi in front and revelling in the mud; ho was not caught till a few strides ofi the post, where Volo, another good mud performer, hoaded him. ilangamahoe was third, and Kewi Poto next. As the clay wore on the. going got very heavy, and the scratching pen was freely used for the Railway Hack Handicap. Co- [ tilhon was favourite, with Matatua second choice. Gold Problem began smartly. I but Khatmandu and Matatua soon headed him, and the last-named led Cotillion and i Uatherer into tho straight. The . latter headed Cotillion into the straight, but in the run home ho could not make any impression on Matatua, who acts well in heavy going. Bniland wae a poor and Bcnville next. Theyo was a good field in the Welter Handicap, and the issue was regarded as open. Wappiiig closed up favourite and lie ran a sterling race, but in a very close finish ho had to strike his colours to Cyresiau, while Kiitess was only a head v.way, and (Mentis and Black Hill were nsht up. Good Day and Sir Asnes led the field till well down the'straight, but then Wapping took charge. He was immediately joined by Oyita'nn nnd Kiltees. and iinvd ridden the trio crossed the Hue together. ' ■ Tae Ihrce-yoiir-old filly Jleli was a better lavonrito than Hawakore in the final event.
