WELLINGTON FIRE POLICE

ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. The annual meeting of the Wellington Volunteer Fire Police and Volunteer Fire Corps was held Inst cyeniii!;, the-Mayor (Mr.' J. P.' l Luke) presiding. The annual report stated that the corps was now entering upon, the nineteenth year of its existence, and tho membership comprised five officers and sixteen members. Owing to 1 the l, mall number of firer, during the year the call or. members had not been very great. The members of tho corps wished to place on record the great courtesy at all times displayed to them by the Superintendent of tlio brigade, his officers and men, also members of tho police and tho Press. . Tho balance-sheet showed the finance.? of tho corps to bo satisfactory. In moving the adoption of the report the Mayor said that there had. keen very few fires during the year; in {'act, there had been a great , immunity from fires during Ibto war period. That circumstance was very fortunate. Mr. Luke paid a tribute to the good vork of the Fire Police and tho Fire Brigade, and Miid that in Superintendent Tait tho city had a very capable officer. He appreciated very much the work done bv tiio Firo Brigade, because they had always been capable and ready to meet any demand, notwithstanding the \\ills 'wliieh had been made upon them in regard to personnel. Mr. Luko referred with regret to the death of Iho late Mr. Flyger. who had always rendered' valuable service in the Firo Police. Ho also trusted.that Mr. John Wright, captain of the police, would soon be restored to health.

Lieutenant T. 13allinger seconded the resolution, and the- report and balancesheet' were adopted. Officers were elraled as follow: Captain, Mr. John Wright; lieutenants, Messrs. T. Bellinger, .1. C. Cusaok, A. Asher, and J: A. SlxSrt; secretary, Mr. J. C. Cusack; treasurer, Mr. F. .1. Hallinger; auditor, Messrs. W. Lango and H. D. Baker.
