HOW THE RED CROSS HELPS
_ -9 PRISONERS OF WAR. . Most people ' know that the Red Cross cares for the sick and wounded, but few realise the many other duties undertaken by this wonderful organisation. Even the British prisoners of war in Germany are cared for by the Red Cross. of our men who are interned in enemy oamps are now supplied with a full ration-of food,, cloth-. ing, and many other comforts. Bread depots have been established jn Berne, Switzerland, and regular supplies of fresh bread are distributed to our interned men. A system is in vogue whereby a postal card is sent to, each soldier who receives a parcel. This he signs and returns, thus acknowledging the receipt of his parcel, and advising of his still being alive at tho same time. The annual "Our Day Flag Drive of the Red Cross is now in operation, and funds are being raised to maintain supplies for all the Red Qross activities. It is hoped that the public will respond generously to this very humane cause.
