AMENDED REGTOATIONS.
Amended regulations havo been issued dealing with military stores,, They ; ore intended to seoure increased efficiency in tho ordnance branch, by increasing the powers and responsibilities of the director and providing tor tho training of officers. "When posted for duty in districts they will bo homo as supernumeraries on tho establishment of tho corps, and will bo reported to the corps if found inefficient. Responsibility for tho control ot stores is made moro definite than i* has been in the past. The Defence Commission found that waste and shortages had been caused m past years by the lack of personal responsibility.' This defect is removed, and in all cases there will be an individual officer responsible for the issue and checking of stores. In tho past when a soldier wa« transferred to tho Reserve list lie had been required to hand in his arms and equipment. He is now required _ to hand over also his uniform clothing.. Tho Ordnance Corps in the past has saved a. great amount by' renovating worn-out clothing from soldiers in camp, or when it is past renovation selling it as rags. Now it is proposed to apply I' lo samo s y^ em t° Territorials also. So that losses duo to carelessness may bo reduced to tho minimum, definite regulations are laid down rath' regard to the security of stores. It is provided that group or unit accountants shall not be gjwktcd lcavo unless arrangements satisfactory to the A.Q.M.G. aro made for the performance of their duties and the care of public property in their absence. Tho group unit accountant is made responsible for the security of stores, and uoiio shall be issued during Ills atiseneo except under special defined circumstances.
