« ■- COMPETITIONS AT THENTHAM. Tho final events of the Ohingford Cup compotitiou (Forty-third RoirifQrcemonts) were'decided:.at Trentham on Tuesday. This cup is awarded for the best' performances in work and play, r and is competed for by the companies of each reinforcement on completion of the period of training. 'The cup was won on this occasion by. D Company, which includes a big proportion of men from the CI Camp; Tho points gained by tho companies wore as follow:—D Company, 624; C Company, 58 1-3; E Company; 52 1-3; B Company, 31ij A Company, '23 1-3. The cross-country raco and-the boxing competitions have already lieen cided. On Tuesday the principal events woro tho athletic sports and drill com- . petitions. The sports wore conducted under the direction of Colonel O, 11. Macdonald, 0.M.G., and Major F. H; Lampon, D.S.O. Among the representati'ves of the military auMioritieß pre- ■ sent were Colonel 0. M. Gibbon, O.M.G, V Chief of General Staff, and Major Sweetzer, Camp Adjutant'. Tjie 1 arrangements wore made by a commits tee of which Lieutenant H. 8.. Lu.sk ! was chairman, Lieutenant M'Caw hon. , secretary, and Sergoant Palmer Hon. treasurer. There was a number of visitors from-the city at the eports. Tho tug-of-war finals , were" pulled by A and D Companies.
