A REQUEST FOR THE BASIN RESERVE.

An application of the "Wellington Football Assooiation for the use of the Basin Reservo on Saturday, September 21, for « match, Canterbury and Wellington, with permission to charge for admission, was considered by the City Council on Thursday. The Ke-sc-rvea Committee recommended ;thac the application should he granted on the following conditions:-(l) That tie council collect their proportion of the gate roceipts and also the cost of advertising the authority to charge for admission. (2) That the association provido the number of men required by the groundsman to keep the public off the grass/and that all the ground not required for play he roped off. The Association also to comply with all instructions from the groundsman. (A) That the groundsman's decision on the question of the fitnoss of the ground for play shall he final. The council decided to grant only the north-eastern portion of the ground, and agreed to tho conditions. •

Followers of "Soccor" will have an opportunity of witnessing two promising exhibitions of tho game at Association Park to-day.
