DEPARTMENTAL RESERVISTS | APPEALS AGAINST THE BALLOT Tho First Wellington Military Service Board isat yesterday. The cases dealt with were mostly appeals by Government Departments, and the Bitting was brief. Leave till November was given William Thomas Campbell, district enginoer, Dunedin. John Moody, inspector of a wool scouring works, Tiinani, was appealed, for. The board' dismissed the appeal, but gave leave till November. Tho Public Trusteo appealed (for six reservists.' Appeals for Edward J. P. Denny, supervising wool valuer, Dunedin, and Somerset Ward Smith, _ district manager, Napier, were dismissed Decision was reserved in the cases of Francis E. Duncan; acting accountant, Wellington, Wellington; William George Allingham, accounts clerk, AVellington; Thomas Edmund Roberts, controller Soldiers' Estates' Division, Wellington; and Albert Henry Pellow, correspondence clerk, Wellington. . The following appeals by the Inspec-tor-General of Mental Hospitals were adjourned sine die:—Henry D. Tycr, attendant, Porirua; Aexander George Fihdlayson, deputy charge attendant, Sumiyside; George M. Morris, attendant, Pukehiki. An appeal for Richard Young, stoker, Porirua, was adjourned till November, and an appeal for Walter George Loiley, plumber, Kihikihi, was dismissed.
Decision was reserved in the cases of Henry H. A. Young, Inspector of Land and- Incomo Tax, Wellington, and Charles E. J. Dowland, Acting Income Tax. Inspector, Wellington. The Commissioner of Stamps appealed for Harold Enaior, stamp clerk, Auckland, and tho cafe was adjourned sine die.
A sino die adjournment was made in'the case.of John Andrew Eraser, Land Registrar, Christehurch, who also was appealed for by the Commissioner of Stamps.

Rarotonga, Cook Islands, was appealed for, and tho caso was adjourned sino die. Adjournments sino dio were mado in tho c.ases of tho following examining officers:—Edwin D; Good/Wellington; ,r Yedorick,N.. Abercrombie, Auckland; Robert James Gray, Wellington. . The Secretary of the. Marino Department appealed for Alfred H. Sanders, assistant light-keeper, Farewell Spit; Archie Joseph Hooper, assistant lightkeoper, French Pass; and William K. Cleverloy, principal light-keeper, Russell.' _ All the cases wero adjourned sine die. An appeal ifor John William Dougall, assistant! light keeper, Bluff, was dismissed. Sine dio adjournments were mado in tho following appeals made by the Secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department:—Frank AVilliam Duffield. mechanician; Palmorston North, and Bertie Campbell, foreman cable splicer, Christehurch. An adjournment till next sitting was made in tlia case /of -Edwin Hugh Reid, boilermaker, Brooklyn. The.lnspector of Prisons appealed for James L. Davies, prison warder, Auckland, and Richard AVilliam Arnold, warder, Auckland, Both cases were adjourned sine die. The board adjourned till Tuesday.
