CENTRAL ELECTION
Mr. W. T. Hildreth, who has been chosen as tho Liberal candidate supporting the National Government during tho currency of the war, will address tho electors at St. Peter's Schoolroom, Ghuznee Street, on Friday, September 27, at 8 p.m. Mr. M. J. Mack, the Independent Labour candidate, addressed a large gathering of his supporters in the Masonic Hall, v ßoulcott Street, last night. At the invitation of the candidate, Major M'Naught presided. During the course of an interesting * address, Mr. Mack dealt forcibly with many of the important political questions in the interests of all sections of the public. He was frequently applauded during tho course of bis address. A large committee was formed to further the interests of Mr-. Mack. Last night Mr. P. -Fraser • addressed a large meeting. in Ghuznee Street, Mr. M'Kccn presiding. At Clyde Quay,, tho Labour candidate also spoke, Mr. T. Brindle being the chairman. Members'of Primary Lodges of the Loyal Orange Lodge in the Wellington district are requested by advertisement in this issuo to attend a meeting in the Baptist School Hall, Vivian Street, on Monday, when tho Rev. Howard Elliott.will give an address in connection with tho Wellincton Central election. Members of the Wellington branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants employed at Petone Workshops passed resolutions disavowing any connection with Mr. M. J. Mack as Independent Labour candidate for the Wellington Central seat, deploring his action in allowing himself to he nominated •while a paid servant of the union, and demanding his resignation from the society before contesting the election. They also congratulated Mr. •P." Fraser on his nomination as the official Labour candidnte, and promised to use their best endeavours to secure bis return.
In connection with tho Labour campaign. Mr. P. Eraser (the Labour candidate) will deliver an address on "Education" at the Alexandra Hall, Abel Smith Street, on Sunday evening at 8 o'clock. To-iueht a.t 8 o'clock open-air meetings will he' held at Ghuznoe Street and Clyde Quay, when tho Labour candidate and other speakers will address the electors. An open-air meeting will he hold at the Post Office Square on Monday midday, when prominent Labour men and the candidate will speak.
