Aboard the steamer a youiig artist commences to sketch one of the girls, Mario. Later, in Ifew York, he chances to meet her, and persuades her to let him finish the sketch. The art iutereet soon becomes a heart interest. His parents, in order' to make sure that he really loves Marie, induce him to go for a few weeks to California. During those eventful weeks Marie's sister dies, and Marie is accused of a crime she had never dreamed of. The Judge is the artist's father. From this,on the story works up to a high pitch of excitemont, with passages that will, it ia claimed, arouse the pity of the hardest heart. A dramatic climax is reached when .the artist returns from California and seeke his loved one. EMPBJESS THEATRE. "The Trap," starring Alice Brady, will be screened for the last time to-night. Tho result is that she marries another man while on a visit to France, and only discovers the wrong she has done her real lover when it is too late. He in the meantime had followed her to I'aris, end hofe occurs somo tensely dramatic situations, which result in a duel. AETORAFT THEATRE, j Two films of more than usual attractiveness are being shown at tho Artcraft Theatre this week. They are "Tho Eternal Temptress," with Mibs Lina Oavulieri in the chief part, and "The Widow's Might," with Ilr. Julian Eltiugo in one of hie remarkable female character impersonations. The stories are interesting, and tho scenes are gorgeously effective iu both pictures. THE ENGLISH PIERROTS. There will be a few more opportunities of seeing tho talented combination—the English Pierrots—during the forthcoming farewoll season, commencing to-morrow evening at the Town Hall Concert Chamber. A series of popular and favourite items will make up the programme, which promises to be in every way equal to any pTSvioußly performed here.
