MEETING OF CREDITORS
A meeting of creditors in tho bankrupt estate of Andrew Bell Philp, call- ■ ed for yesterday morning,, wasadjourn- ■) ed until October '2, at il a.m., owing to the lack of a quorum. Mr. W. W.Samson, Aoting Official Assigneej presided. Tho bankrupt and his solicitor, Mr. J. Scott, wore present, and the petitioning creditor, Sir. A. B. Topp, j with his counsel, Mr. D. M. Findlay, | was also preseut. . j In his written statement, bankrupt attributed Ms position , to the ill-health, of himself and his family, and detailed the acquisition by the payment of a deposit of certain property. Outside of j his liability to Mr. Topp, his debts were small, and Mr. Topp would have been amply secured, apart even from bankruptcy proceedings, by exercising hie j rights under tho writ of sale which ] might have followed' on the charging order which ho registered agaiust the properties. Domestic creditors, such ; as butcher, baker, etc., had no wish to j push matters against him by way of 1 claiming against tho estate. Of a £500 j legacy received from Scotland, £850 i was paid to Mr. A. P. Levin on ac- j couut of the purchaso of the property ; at Kelburn. Tho balance of £150 was expended in tho payment of sundry debta, including hospital account and other incidental debts. The list of debts showed secured' creditors:—A. P. Levin, £316 ss. 5d.; State Advances Department £306 2s. 5d.; and A. B. Topp, £250; .total, £902 7s. lOd. Estimated valuo of securities, £1300. Liabilities (unsecured): Denhard Automatic Bakeries, £4; Lany mann Health Home, £8; Dr. Mackin, £4; G. Denton, £1; and another for, ?. a small amount. Total, £13 13s. Bd. "1 Assets: Furniture. £20; surplus from securities, £397 12s. 2d.; total, £417 • j 12s. 2d. ■ j
