COAL DISPUTE SETTLED

Lonrion, August 22. The Yorkshire coal owners and miners' conference has settled Mie dispute, and the leaders recommended an immediate resumption of work. One hundred and fifty thousand men wero out to-day, and practically the entire field was idle.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. THE OUTPUT PROBLEM. London, August 23. The Miners' Federation at Southport discussed tho coal output. Rovoral delegate demanded better facilities for getting coal to the surface, as tho men are able to win more coal than '■ould be brought up.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. THE TRAM AND BUS TROUBLE RIVAL UNIONS AT ODDS. London, August 22. At a mass meeting of conductresses the chairman announced a. hitch n tho negotiations. The- meeting adjourned, after informally negativing a proposal to resume work pending an award. The meeting was so packed that many girls fainted. It appears that tho officials of two unions are at loggerheads. Subsequently a stormy meeting decided to resume work on Friday.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn. RAILWAY WOMEN DEMAND EQUAL PAY. (Rce. August 25, 11 p.m.) .
London, August 24. Over a thousand men and women employed in the London tube railways met and discussed the question of equal pay for equal work, and passed a resolution in favour of an immediate strike.. They will probably come out to-day. A number of women train cleaners and porters on the Great Western Railway have struck, demanding equal pay for equnl work. . The Railway Clerks' Union threaten to strike for recognition of their status. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
